Description

The San Angelo Standard-Times was founded in 1884. It became a part of Harte-Hanks Newspapers in 1924 when legendary San Angelo newsman Houston Harte and Bernard Hanks of Abilene began buying newspapers together. Harte-Hanks operated the newspaper until October 1997, when it sold this and its other newspapers to Scripps. The Standard-Times is the only daily published in San Angelo and is the leading source of news and information for a 39-county region of Central and West Texas. The newspaper is highly regarded for its coverage of local and area news, sports and features. The Sunday edition has the highest paid circulation penetration of any newspaper in Texas.
