ON Tuesday, February 17, 1885 a Star was born. The Star of the East, as it was then called, hit the streets for the first time giving its readers local, national and international stories of the day - it cost one half-penny.In 1898 it changed its name to The Evening Star and Daily Herald after taking over a weekly opposition paper but by the early part of the last century was known as The Evening Star. It started life as a broadsheet but was relaunched as a tabloid in September 1978.It currently has three editions and primarily serves the towns of Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Hadleigh.
