The Tribune was founded in 1863 as a bi-weekly newspaper. It adopted the name Welland Evening Tribune in 1920 when it began publishing three times a week. The change to a daily publication came Nov 4, 1929. Over the years it absorbed the Welland Telegraph and the Port Colborne Citizen. Today The Tribune serves a readership on the southern half of the Niagara Peninsula.
