Vancouver Island's second-oldest newspaper, the Nanaimo Daily News, started in 1874 as the Daily Free Press. The paper was relaunched in 1997 as the Daily News. The Daily focuses on local content, covering all aspects of community/region news. It combines that coverage with emphasis to pertinent wire services news.
